Okay, just as I suspected Center Theater Group dropped some $25 all-in tickets to see Once Upon A Mattress for Ticket Drop Tuesday. They are using Today Tix for their Ticket Drop Tuesday tickets now, so if you haven’t downloaded the app yet, now is the time. I had 2 tickets in my cart but by the time I was able to check my calendar (I have to!), they were gone. The good news is that Today Tix will be holding a lottery for $20 tickets in the first 2 rows as well as rush tickets. Lottery opens December 2nd. Be sure to set alerts!

There are $29 rush tickets for La Cage Aux Folles at Pasadena Playhouse as well. In order to unlock, you need to share to social media. I have a Twitter/X account just for this. It’s the only thing I ever do on Twitter/X – enter lotteries and unlock rush tickets. If you haven’t been to Pasadena Playhouse, check it out. It’s great regional theater. I am considering La Cage, but the last time I went to see a show at Pasadena Playhouse, it took me 2 hours to get there. Maybe it will be better if I go on a Sunday rather than a Thursday. Also, the last time I saw La Cage, George Hamilton was in it. No matter how good this is, will it be George Hamilton good?

Lucky Seat has a lottery for Shrek The Musical at Segerstrom. The next drawing is on Wednesday, November 20. The last time I drove to Costa Mesa took me almost as long as that drive to Pasadena Playhouse. For both events I was meeting friends for dinner first so I left very, very early. Given L.A. traffic, you should ALWAYS leave early but who knew I had to leave THAT early. At any rate, Segerstrom always uses Lucky Seat for their lotteries and for your $36 (in this case), you will get tickets that haven’t sold so they could be anywhere but are typically Orchestra level. With Lucky Seat you enter for all shows you’d like for the week and there is one weekly drawing.

The lottery is still active for Back To The Future at the Pantages. These are $39 lottery tickets, and you will get unsold tickets somewhere in the theater. In the last few lotteries I’ve won at the Pantages I have been front row, mid-orchestra, and rear orchestra.

And speaking of the Panatages, Wicked is coming. There is ALWAYS a lottery for Wicked. I have been lucky enough to win that lottery several times back when it was an in-person lottery. In some ways I miss the in-person lotteries because you could show up on a Tuesday and have pretty good odds of winning since there weren’t too many people there. Plus it was fun to hang around with other hopefuls while the spun the big drum and pulled names. Digital lotteries are easier, but your odds are a whole lot worse. Other shows that ALWAYS have lotteries are Hamilton ($10 – through the Hamilton app, ALWAYS), and Book of Mormon (venue specific lottery, so check the venue). I have won Book of Mormon several times at in-person lotteries. Once, a fellow lottery winner only needed 1 ticket and sold me their extra for the cost of the ticket ($25) and I called my daughter and said, “Get down to Segerstrom! I have a lottery ticket for you”. Just before Covid shut everything down, BoM was playing at the Ahmanson and I just kept winning and winning. I’m sure Covid was keeping people away, but it didn’t keep me away! I took a different person each time. I’ve won Hamilton once, but I didn’t see the push in time to buy the tickets so I lost them. Based on the soundtrack and the Disney+ version, I don’t think Hamilton will be a favorite, so I will just continue to enter the lottery every time it comes through and wait for $10 tickets.
